Orchestra Outreach

This is the final project for a course with Gil Noam called "Resilience, Development, and Community in School and Afterschool Settings."  This is a presentation of a large number of resources that may be specifically helpful to practitioners in symphony orchestra education or outreach programs.  Much of the literature I reference is at some distance to musical domains, but it is my hope that you will see the connections.  The research, theory, and stories of the field of education can be excellent conceptual building blocks for the programs that arts organizations (in this case, symphony orchestras) can and do offer.  I will not attempt to evaluate the activities of the various organizations.  My intent is to present a useful collection of information that is easily accessible to interested parties.  This is just the beginning of what I hope will become an increasingly shared endeavor towards compiling and circulating information that can help all of us provide better, stronger, and even more valuable services to our communities.  Towards that end, please contact me with your comments or additions!
