Orchestra Outreach

bullet1 General Topics

bullet2 Good Communication

Without a continual sharing of relevant information, ideas, and challenges, it is impossible to maintain an effective support system for the people engaged in community missions.

Once again, as it applies to students or other participants, principles of good communication enable them to feel like active and valuable members of the orchestra’s constituency.  Part of the mission of any “outreach” program is to expand and strengthen the bonds people in the surrounding community feel with the Symphony.  One of the stereotypes of symphony orchestras is that they are for and about a very selective and traditionally unwelcoming small section of the population.  As cultural ambassadors for this beautiful and meaningful art form, each of us must work to create an atmosphere of inclusion and respect at every level.
